Further update 17 March 2020

As a result of recent government guidelines on mass gatherings and because of considerations regarding international speakers and delegates who will not be able to travel easily or safely at present, we have taken the decision to cancel our 2020 Leadership Conference.

We were very much looking forward to hosting another exciting conference this year and it was a difficult decision for us to make. We have looked into opportunities to postpone but there are challenges with venue availability this year and uncertainty about how this situation will unfold. We have considered alternative ways to deliver conference but we feel that it will compromise the experience. Sadly, we feel that it is the right decision to cancel and we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this causes.

 Here’s what you need to know:

  • Later this week Event Dynamics (our conference partner) will send all registered delegates an email with the option to transfer registration to the 2021 Leadership Conference, or cancel
  • Delegates who choose to cancel will receive a full refund of fees paid. If accommodation was selected as part of the registration, this will also be fully refunded
  • We hope to confirm the dates for the 2021 Leadership Conference later this week. The proposed dates are 5-6 May 2021 at the Cordis Hotel in Auckland.

I have registered and paid for the 2020 Leadership Conference. Will I get a full refund of the conference fees?

Yes. You will be given the option to transfer your registration to the 2021 Leadership Conference, or you can receive a full refund.

The event organisers will email you before Friday 20 March. If you do not receive an email with instructions please contact Event Dynamics  

I didn’t receive any email regarding the cancellation of the Conference.

The IoD sent an email on 17 March to all conference delegates informing them that the conference has been cancelled. We apologise if you didn’t receive this email.

I booked the Cordis accommodation as part of my registration. Can I get a refund?

Yes. This can be arranged as part of the cancellation process. The event organiser- Event Dynamics- will email all delegates with instructions. If this email does not reach you by end of 20 March, please contact Event Dynamics

Where and when will the 2021 conference be held?

Cordis Hotel, Auckland, 5-6 May 2021.

Will the 2021 programme be the same?

We are contacting the same speakers for participation in the 2021 conference. However, we would expect that the timing may not be suitable for all speakers confirmed for conference this year. We will launch a new website for the 2021 Leadership Conference shortly.

Will you be cancelling other IoD events?

We will continue to hold branch events and face to face courses. Most of our courses and events are much smaller than the Leadership Conference and we do not rely on international speakers. We will continue to monitor Ministry of Health recommendations and guidelines for gatherings but we have taken the step to limit our courses and events to no more than 30 people including speakers and IoD staff. We will review this on 20 April.
